The Scottsdale luxury real estate market remains an enticing draw for high-end buyers, driven by robust demand and exceptional properties. We spoke with Adrian Heyman, Managing Director of The Agency’s Scottsdale office, and his partner, Lynn Heyman, a leading interior designer and luxury home stager at reThink Interiors, to get insight into the market’s current drivers. Adrian: The Scottsdale luxury real estate market is currently seeing a strong emphasis on modern design, sustainability, and resort-style living. Buyers are seeking sleek, contemporary homes with indoor-outdoor flow, often incorporating smart home technology and sustainable features. Additionally, there’s a growing demand for properties with resort-style amenities like pools, spas, and outdoor kitchens, reflecting the desire for a luxurious and experiential lifestyle.

Adrian: High-end buyers are increasingly seeking homes equipped with amenities that support a wellness-focused lifestyle. Features such as infrared saunas, cold plunge pools, dedicated retreat spaces, and golf simulators are becoming key considerations for this demographic.

What’s one design trend you’re seeing take hold in Scottsdale luxury homes right now—and why do you think it’s resonating?

Lynn: Entertaining is as important as ever, and large beautiful kitchens with double islands to accommodate lots of family and friends, and then large butler pantries that can serve as a second kitchen that also helps to keep any mess out of the way. These amenities resonate with buyers because of their high-end and functional appeal for social gatherings and entertaining. 

What piece of advice do you give clients when it comes to designing or updating a luxury home? 

Adrian: When discussing updating or designing a home, I think it’s important to appreciate how the family lives and understand what each space is used for, creating a space that is more personalized. We focus on showcasing life’s treasures and art to make a house feel like a curated home, and creating cozy, conversational spaces with mood lighting, warm woods and finishes that evoke quiet luxury.

What sets Scottsdale apart from other luxury markets today? And what advice would you give to buyers starting their home search today?

Lynn: Scottsdale offers a premium living environment with large lots, desert views, and ample sunshine. The area attracts affluent buyers, including executives, retirees, and those seeking second homes, drawn by the tax-friendly and climate-friendly aspects. Align yourself with an experienced luxury agent, like Adrian, who knows the market intimately and can advise/educate you. Think about the amenities you require, the lifestyle you want, and be clear on your budget.

How does your partnership as a real estate expert and a designer create a unique experience for your clients?
